In the Arms of his Love – From the moment we are born our senses communicate and measure the realities of all that is around us.  What we see, touch, hear, taste and feel create what we say is real.  Some are born not having one or more of these amazing abilities, like someone who cannot hear.  Our identity is formed, relationships are founded, opinions shaped by our senses.  The challenge some feel in believing that Jesus Christ lives is that they can’t see Him.  The Apostle Thomas firmly stated that, even with the reports of others that Jesus was resurrected, he would not believe unless he could see him with his eyes and touch him.  The reassurance that our senses give us is very real, very comforting.  But then there is the question of faith.  Many times faith is mocked with the cold eye of logic that says, you cannot believe in what you cannot see.

Then one becomes aware of the Holy word of God that teaches us that we are His children, that He loves us and that He commands us to pray to Him.  Does that challenge the logical mind?  God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son.  That whoso believeth in Him shall not perish but shall have eternal life.  This glorious life God promises was realized in Jesus Christ, a perfect man, the Son of God, who came to earth to show us the way back to our heavenly home.  We read of His magnificent life, the countless miracles He performed, raising people from the dead and are filled with awe that He would take upon Himself our sins and burdens all because of His love for us.  The glorious, divine reality is that He rose from the dead, was resurrected and as He entered the room where the Apostles were and stood before Thomas His beautiful eyes penetrated his soul as He directed Thomas to reach forth his hand and receive the assurance that all he had been told was true.  Through the God given gift of art we contemplate Jesus standing with His arms outstretched inviting us to come to Him and feel the joy of being encircled in the arms of His love.
